A hidden gem. Clean atmosphere, semi-friendly host/waitress, reasonable prices. They were playing oldie classics, no Thai music. Lunch specials mon - fri. Nicely decorated. Tasty food. I will be back.

I tried this place out twice, the first time I had the chicken panang curry which was good. The place is clean and the server was very nice. The portion size was average. Overall not bad for my first time. The second time I tried the chicken pad see ew and fried potstickers. The potstickers were okay nothing special. The pad se ew was okay.. Def have had better at other restaurants. Also the portion size was tiny for the pad se ew! I will only return back for the chicken panang curry.

Probably the worst Thai food I have had. First off, the crab Rangoon had no crab what so ever. Um.....what's crab Rangoon without crab? The fact that the crab Rangoon didn't have crab in there wasn't the big deal! The big deal was that when my friends and I got our food (green curry) we smelt something that smelt like a dead animal right away. Green curry is not supposed to smell like a farm. Not only that but the beef looked undone and absolutely disgusting! Whatever, we sucked it up and tried it but boy oh boy was it gross!! Probably the worst food I have had! We all felt gross later that night after eating it too. This is NOT real Thai. Don't go here. I'm warning you.

I've been going here over ten years. They have some of the best thai I ever had. I recommend pad see ewe crunchy. Noodles are fried but amazing. Doctor up your sweet and sour sauce with a scoop of hot sauce.

I usually don't give little hole in the walls a chance since I have very complex palate and once I find something that is good I just strive for better the next time. I have this place two stars because the woman was nice and the place looked clean. The crab Rangoon was the worst I've ever eaten, way too salty and no crab at all... Literally! I got the pad thai with beef and she asked how spicy I wanted it. I've never been asked how spicy I want it because I thought it was supposed to be on the side of no or very little spiciness. I said a little bit less than medium, to lean on the side of caution. I love spicy flavors so I thought this was a good option. It was much more than medium considering I couldn't have more than a few bites. I could not taste peanuts either. The beef was a BAD choice, I should have known better. It was disgusting and fatty and chewy. There was nothing good about my take out order, not even the cheap chopsticks. I am very disappointed but I should have stuck with Yucca, like usual. I'm very sorry Jewel of Siam, but things need to be seriously changed.

My favorite place to get Thai food in the area. Everything is really great. I usually order the pad thai, curries, or ginger chicken. My boyfriend gets the spicy catfish and tom yum chicken soup which are both really great. It is a super nice owner that is always there serving as well. She makes the experience even better. Must try!

The food is average. I had the lunch special. The portions are small but well presented. They are huge fans of bean sprouts here. The service was terrible. The waitress was actually seated at a table eating her own lunch. We asked for water three times, had to get our own silverware by collecting it from another table. I won't be coming back.

This place is no longer a BYOB. Went there with 4-girls after a wine tasting at Binny's...thinking it was still BYOB, we brought wine. They now sell beer/wine, at high prices. However, they are on restaurant.com , and that can be used toward food and liquor. I had a $50 off of $100....so we ordered 2 overpriced bottles of horrible wine @ $26 each. So, the certificate covered the wine. The food was decent. I've had worse, and I've had better. I had the potstickers and red thai curry. Both were average and portions were kind of small. I think that was the feeling throughout the table. Service was slow, and we were the only ones in the place, but the girl was really friendly. I think she was studying at the counter. I don't think I would come back here, as the BYOB is what drew us in to begin with. Thai Smile is much better for southside thai food.

I went with a friend and my sister a few weeks back because we were craving Thai food. We are frequent diners at Thai restaurants and this was not authentic. We ordered a mixed platter of appetizers, pad see ewe, and green curry. crab rangoon: had no crab. tasted only of cream cheese and sour cream. other appetizers were OKAY. pad see ewe: beef tasted like it was barbequed. The noodles were good. Seasoning tasted good but had a small twist that didn't taste authentic. I really think it was the way the beef was prepared. green curry: ruined our dinner. It smelled AWFUL!!! omg. it made the whole table smell like a dead animal. No joke. I risked it because I thought maybe it just smelt that way. NO! It tasted awful. Maybe I'm being too harsh just from a one time visit and bad experience with crab rangoon and green curry, but it really just ruined the experience. I don't think I'll be going back there.

Ordered 4 different chicken entrees plus chicken satay. All the chicken was tough as if it was cooked from a frozen state. The sauces were all watered down, veges were overcooked. The satay seemed to be reheated. They need to go to siam marina in calumet city to get the best.

This place is a mess. A complete mess. At least it was last night. I hadn't had Thai food in a long time, so I went on Yelp to find a place. Most of the not-so-good reviews seemed to be down on this place because they can get much better Thai food in the city. (Well, duh). So with that in mind, I figured it was a worth a try. No way. Oh, hell no. There was stuff just sitting on a bunch of the tables and they had to clear a table of junk to seat us. There were three fourteen-year-old girls running around, trying to take care of the tables that had people sitting at them. I ordered the Thai iced tea and it was rank. I mean, really bad. It had this weird smoky-burnt aftertaste like it had been sitting in a hot pot for a really long time (or like it had liquid smoke added to it). Our appetizer, the chicken satay, was edible but not great. The peanut sauce seemed off, too. I'm not sure how to describe what was wrong; it was just off. My favorite Thai soup is Tom Yum so I ordered a small. It was thin and filled with huge chunks of raw white onion and a bunch of green onion. (No mushrooms, kaffir or cilantro, and if there was lemongrass in it, I couldn't taste it. A complete disappointment). When our server took our appetizer plates away, she asked if we wanted our check; we had to tell her that we hadn't had our entrees yet. (I recognized the look on her face as "Oh, crap, I forgot to put their order in" but instead, her mouth said our food would be right out). Eventually, our order did come out. At this point, I was glad I had ordered pad thai and not taken a risk on something more unique. The pad thai was pretty good, which is the only reason I'm giving the restaurant two stars. We waited forever for the check, even after asking for it twice, and eventually just went up to the counter where another server was helping someone with a to go order and asked her if she could please help us pay so we could leave. I was completely disappointed and starting to realize that I have to go to Tallahassee to get decent Thai food (which just seems wrong on so many levels).

Terrible food, disappointing prices, and no customer service. I ordered the Thom Kha soup which was such a small portion it was barely a bowl. After my order was taken I was never asked if I needed anything else or given the bill. I had to ask for the bill and walk up to pay. I will NEVER go back and I suggest that you not waste your time.

We visited the Jewel of Siam in response to a 20% discount from the Thai tourist board. The place is a clean but uninspired little store front. I liked the BYOB policy and ran down the street to grab a bottle of wine. We started with the appetizer platter. The chicken satay was very good and the crab Rangoon was excellent. We shared three entrees and they did get one wrong - chicken instead of shrimp. Oh well. All the vegetables were fresh and crisp. The pepper steak was quite good. You get to choose the meat with most entrees - very nice. The bill was not much - $40 so it was was a pleasant, inexpensive experience. I'd return again if in the neighborhood.

This is my family's favorite Thai restaurant! We love the food here and probably take guests from out of town to this place each time. I recommend their curry choices and pad see ewe! Their thai iced tea is pretty good too. We tend to have leftovers after eating because the portions are sometimes a lot for us. They do take-outs too so it is very convenient if we don't want to eat there. It is rarely crowded so we like how it is small but not overcrowding or loud. It seems like a family business because the waiter is the cook's daughter. It is also a clean place to eat. Some Thai restaurants are dirty or outdated but this one has nicely painted walls, a cute little cashier corner, and in an ideal location in Orland Park.

Like some one stated above, I was also visiting my family in Tinley Park. I searched for a Thai restaurant and the closest was Jewel of Siam. I love Thai food and there are 3 in my neighborhood close to UIC. I live in the city and have been to Thailand so I know what Thai food should and should not taste like. Any who , I scanned the menu before leaving my house and getting on the highway to visit. I figured I would call them once I get off the highway and that would give me 30 minutes until I got there. I called them at 4:44 PM once I exited off of I-57. I placed an order for Spring Rolls, Chicken Satay, Chicken Pad Se Ewe, Panang Curry with Noodles, Crab Fried Rice, a side of Sticky Rice and a side of Brown Rice. I was told it should be ready in 20 minutes. I took my time driving the speed limit and even stopped at Blockbusters to drop off my movies. I then got back on the road and got to Jewel of Siam. I go to Mo's Chinese Kitchen often enough, so I knew exactly where I was headed. I walked in and gave my name and handed over my credit card. I waited....and waited....and waited...and waited.....and waited. I didn't get into my car until close to 5:30 PM. I was annoyed by the long wait but I had somewhere to be. My family was waiting on me to get there and to bring the food. It all came to just a bit over $40. When I got to the house 5 minutes later, I pulled out the small portions of food. The containers were nice, but once I poped them all open, they didn't look like any Thai food I have ever had. We served ourselves and I was not pleased. My aunt has never had Thai food and she said it was ok, but I knew better. The Pad Se Ewe was watery and the sauce was very light. There was hardly any sauce actually. It was not seasoned at all. The Panang Curry was like a soup and too runny. The Chicken Satay was cold and was not seasoned at all. The Spring Rolls were dry and gross. The Crab Fried rice had imitation crab meat. It was tasty, but I was expecting real crab for the price of all that food. I should have gone with pork or chicken. The sides of rice are TINY. The sticky rice and brown rice were good, but not enough for me to share with my aunt and dad. Long story short, I will never return. I ate what I could and just let them have the rest of the food. If I want Thai food, I will stick to the places in my hood downtown that can make authentic Thai food and not cut corners. I loathe the suburbs...and this is one of the reasons why I will never live in the suburbs again. These people are forced to settle with this garbage and make due. I'm not that guy.

We ordered Thai fried rice but it tasted NOTHING like THAI food - but if you are looking for Chinese fried rice, you found a place. However, that wasn't that good either. I won't be coming back!

I used to come here periodically but lived a bit far so did not visit often. I just moved closer and ordered...they must have new owners the food was very different and not in a good way. It seemed like Chinese style Thai, the fried rice was dark brown like soy sauce when a good Thai rice is light in color and the Pad Thai looked very pink like ketchup not lighter color as in better made Thai style dishes. Also the crab rangoon did not have any crab that I could taste - it used to be a different recipe for it and much more flavorful. I am disappointed as this is now the closest Thai place.

I make my way south out of Chicago to visit family on occasion, and there are only a few Thai restaurants in a reasonable distance from Tinley Park where they live. I absolutely LOVE Thai food and like to eat Thai over the other typical suburban-chains around. Usually I prefer Thai Smile, because it's just as good as my favorite city-destinations for Thai, if not better. Jewel of Siam was closest, and last weekend I had the opportunity to get some lunch there with a good friend. I ordered the green curry with tofu and brown rice, and she had pad ki mao with chicken. When our food arrived, her plate was steaming hot and toppling over, itself full of noodles, vegetables and meat. Small-marshmallow-sized tofu cubes sat in a shallow pool of the runny green curry on my plate, littered with matchstick-cut bamboo. I stared at my plate sadly. It looked terrible. I poked around at it and even plunked a tofu cube into my mouth; it tasted like it had not been drained but then quick-cooked in too much butter? I generally have good experiences with tofu at Asian restaurants. How it could taste so bad was beyond me. I ordered a side of extra vegetables in order to jazz up the plate a bit, and they came out right away. Unfortunately, they tasted strongly of fish, and I am vegetarian. I reluctantly asked for another dish, I figured I couldn't go wrong with pad siew, but when it came to the table, I immediately felt they'd gotten back at me for my "picky behavior." My pad siew was half the size of my friend's pad ki mao, and was slippery as an eel flopping around in it's own, crap-tasting juices. Seriously. I love food. I love good food, and when we walked out of this restaurant I swore I would never ever go again!

Excellent Thai food! This restaurant has the prestige of being recognized as an excellent place to get Thai cuisine by the government of Thailand. There are certificates & awards on the wall. Very cute little restaurant that you might easily miss due to its rather odd location. Next door is a Cici's pizza (which sucks) and I nearly wanted to tell the floods of college-age idiots going in Cicis that they'd get a FAR better meal by just going next-door to Jewel of Siam! LOL Excellent thom ka kai coconut chicken soup. Excellent Pad Thai, curries, and Pad Woonsen -- which is my absolute favourite. FRESH ingredients and they accept Restaurant.com coupons! (That's how I found this place). I highly recommend this quanit little restaurant! YUM!

Waitress was very friendly, and it was clean inside the restaurant. However, my Pad Kee Mao had more shredded bamboo in it than noodles!! The vegetables were WAY overlooked, and were not edible. Chicken was dry and tastes like its been sitting in a warmer all day. I will not be back.

I've been to Jewel of Siam dozens of times, and never got around to writing a review. I hopped on here to get the phone number so I could check their business hours today, and since they don't open until 4PM Sunday, I have a few minutes to share my experience before I go out there for dinner. Being only one of two Thai restaurants within reasonable distance from me (the other being Thai Smile which isn't as good) I don't have too many options. Sure, I've had better Thai in the city at places such as Thai Lagoon or Pot Pan, but the food is excellent at Jewel of Siam. The decor and portions could use some improvement, but the staff is always great and the fair is definately lower than most Thai restaurants in the city. I especially enjoy the Chicken Lad Nar, the Thai egg rolls and the Chicken pot stickers (rare find since most are vegetable) and their ice cream and ice tea are excellent.

Food was really good (panang curry and pad thai), hence 4 stars......it was perfectly medium spicy. appetizers were just ok though, and peanut sauce was funky (chicken satay). Definitely skip the desserts. Service was slow so don't go when you are in a hurry.

Another 3.5er. Pleasant staff, tasty tea. Entrees were nothing extraordinary but were certainly more than passable and they were happy to comply with my request to omit any spice from my curry dish. The fried spring rolls and chicken dumplings were quite tasty. I had the chicken massaman curry and my companion had the chicken lad nar - he was quite a fan of their lad nar (that of the not-crispy, just pan fried variety) and I enjoyed the curry, though it wasn't outstanding. I can certainly see myself eating there again but I probably wouldn't go too far out of my way to do it.

Well, I had a much better experience than Caitlin or Martha, but then again, here we are a year and a day after Martha's review. This is in the strip mall with the McDonald's and Burrito Jalisco, but I think the sign on the outside only reads "Thai Restaurant." Most of the entrees are in the $7-8 range, and if my Ginger Duck was any indication, they aren't that large, so you'll need an appetizer. The dish was probably about 3 star quality. Fiending for the void of Thai food in my life, I decided I'd also order a Tom Kha Kai (coconut curry chicken soup). I went for the large, swearing that this better be the best damn soup ever for close to $6. While it wasn't THE BEST, it was good and the bowl was pretty big. The food also comes very fast and the waitress was nice.

Consistently good. I've been here a few times, usually associated with the discount resale shopping available within the same strip mall. Service is quick and the people are nice. They have excellent fish cakes - small, kind of flat and chewy. I also had a grilled chicken plate once where the meat had really great flavors of ginger and garlic - delicious. Portions are decent. Other things I've had have been average and sometimes above average, but never bad. They have homemade ice cream - pomegranate, coconut and green tea. The prices are all very reasonable.

Being a South Suburbanite born and raised I mostly eat the "suburban" version of thai, indian etc foods. While my husband and I get downtown for more popular spots, we don't often get into the city for "ethnic food." That said, I cannot and will not try and rate this place based on authenticity but rather for taste and value. I can't speak on the ambiance as I sent the MR for carryout. I ordered the catfish in the red curry sauce, and he had Pad Thai Shrimp. We also shared an order of eggrolls. The total was about $16 or $17, the food was tasty, fresh, NON greasy and ready when promised. I would visit again.

Food is good. portions are small but my bf payed for meal.The price was around 12 dollars he signed statement for card.then when he got home while checking his balances it said 14 dollars.seems as though they add on to there bill after you sign.the food is excellent though.

This place is hardly worth mentioning but I am in a review whore mode and this is the most recent place I've dined in. This place is relatively average run of the mill suburb Thai restaurant. Very dull decor and bland lightening. The food was much better then I imagined it to be. I would give them an award for having top notch crab rangoon. I don't know if it's cute or strange but they serve their entrees on the same dishes my mom has at home. I do have to call them out on 1.) taking our food before we finished 2.) bringing the check before asking if we wanted anything else 3.) reprimanding me for not laying the bill holder thing flat with my card sticking out (i opted for the standing the bill holder up with card inside...sorry guys those sleeves you used were so old they didn't have a top slot for my card) but why are you going to call me out on that?! do you want to get paid or not?
